After exhibiting in many editions of Art Basel in Basel and Hong Kong, this is the first time for Galleria d'Arte Maggiore G.A.M. in Miami. The Gallery presents an amazing Giorgio Morandi's solo show to the Latin American and American public with a chosen selection of important oils on canvas, drawings, watercolors and some etchings, in order to give relevance to all areas of research of the artist and to offer a complete portrait of the Master. Well known all over the world, Morandi hardly needs an introduction. However, in order to offer new and interesting points of view in its presentation, the Gallery focuses on showing how his research is still contemporary, even 52 years after his death. Morandi is infact known as an ‘artist’s artist’ because many of the most important international artists collect his works and look to him as a master nonpareil. Through the use of a limited range of subject and colors, Morandi is able to achieve a sort of abstraction which goes beyond the image on the canvas. His works can in fact be read as arrangements of pure forms: the focus on tones and shape relationships disclose his vision of a new dimension. His art neither refers to the past nor the present, and it is a forerunner not only of Minimalist and Abstract tendencies (as well as the figurative ones), but inherently a supreme example of modernity.

The Gallery has chosen the Survey sector since it is the best section to present a detailed study of the different aspects of the work of Morandi. This is an important part of the Gallery's programme since, beside working of course on the market side (as the partecipation to the most important international art fairs testifies), it is focused also on the istitutional promotion of its artists, collaborating with Museums in Italy and abroad in order to create great public shows. It is therefore the best sector to combine together its two “souls”.

The Gallery is the international point of reference for the great Master, coming from the same city where the artist was born, Bologna, and dealing with his works from more than 40 years. The Gallery always does many research not only on the quality of the artworks, but focusing also into the way the work of Morandi was exhibited during his life. As in the exhibition “Giorgio Morandi. Silences” curated by Franco Calarota and Daniela Ferretti at the Museum of Palazzo Fortuny in Venice in 2011 where 21 works were exhibited revoking the show in Florence in 1945 where Roberto Longhi selected exactly 21 works.
