GIOSETTA FIORONI. THE FUTURE CAME OUT OF THE PAST,
GALLERIA D’ARTE MAGGIORE, BOLOGNA
From January 29 to March 15, the Galleria d'Arte Maggiore will host The Future Came Out of the Past, an exhibition dedicated to the work of Giosetta Fioroni, a central figure in post-war Italian art and a recognized protagonist on the international scene. The exhibition's title refers to a famous statement made in an interview with the artist by Hans-Ulrich Obrist and clarifies the context of her work: a constant dialogue with the history of art, literature, and memory, understood as an active space for the reworking of experience and imagination. Her research is also distinguished by its profound and lasting influence on the practices and poetics of many contemporary artists. Over time, Fioroni has developed a clear and radical visual language, crossing the boundaries of painting, drawing, performance, video, theater, ceramics, and fashion with both formal and conceptual freedom. The exhibition retraces this journey starting from the period immediately after her stay in Paris, when, as a guest in Tristan Tzara's studio, she came into contact with the lively international scene surrounding the French capital in the early 1960s.
