«If I had to define my relationship with the real I'd say that I look at reality (death, life, illness, sex, etc.)an obstacle to that "earthly paradise" we have "played", and so I try to shift attention to a surrogate of reality or, better, a domesticated reality that doesn't frighten. So for me the compositions that contain accumulations of bone or rubbish or animalsreproduced in an absolutely objective and aesthetic way contain a crystallised reality that arouses curiosity without frightening, as they are purified of the fate to which we are led.»

«It is well known, though often forgotten, that reality surpasses imagination. And we draw precisely on reality, as for us it is a gold mine.»
