Bilbao | Claudine Drai enters the collection of Maison Dom Pérignon

The exclusive collaboration between Claudine Drai and Dom Pérignon unveiled at "Révélations" at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the acquisition of the French artist's works by the Maison's collection

After became part of the permament collection of Centre Pompidou in 2024 and the recent acquisition in Maison Guerlain's collection, Claudine Drai took part in an exclusive collaboration with Dom Pérignon at Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and entered the collection of the Maison. The project is part of the creative chapter "Creation is an Eternal Journey" and featured special installations by Drai coinciding with actress Tilda Swinton’s House of Gestures performance at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

An exclusive collaboration between French contemporary artist Claudine Drai and the renowned champagne maison Dom Pérignon took shape during the sixth edition of "Révélations", the annual event held at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao that brings together art, gastronomy, and creative expression.

The event began at Carreras Mugica gallery, where Drai presented a series of ethereal works inspired by her visit to the Dom Pérignon vineyards, including delicately folded Japanese paper wall pieces and poetic texts suspended from the ceiling on sheer tapestries. Her installation was displayed alongside painted bottles evoking the champagne-making process and photographs of the vineyards by Dom Pérignon managing director Jacques Giraco. The celebration then continued at the Guggenheim Bilbao with House of Gestures, a performance by Tilda Swinton and Olivier Saillard, followed by a Harmony Dinner curated by renowned chefs Eneko Atxa and Josean Alija.

Drai’s work occupied a central conceptual role within the event, exploring themes of genesis, presence, place, and transformation. Working with silk paper to create abstract compositions, the artist reflects on immateriality, light, and the act of creation itself. This focus on gesture and creative process forms a natural connection with Dom Pérignon’s philosophy and is echoed in Swinton and Saillard’s performance, which investigates the relationship between body, gesture, and presence.

The project is part of Dom Pérignon’s broader creative chapter, "Creation is an Eternal Journey", which views creation as an ongoing process that transcends disciplines. Within this framework, Drai’s practice enters into a wider dialogue between contemporary art, performance, and craftsmanship.
