To celebrate Artefiera, which this year marks its fiftieth anniversary since its foundation in 1974, from February 1st to 4th, Bologna transforms into the stage of contemporary culture, bustling with exhibitions, special projects, and performances across public and private institutional realities, art galleries, and independent spaces. Forever Icon, Galleria D'Arte Maggiore G.a.m.
Another significant proposal is the one presented by the Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m. in via D’Azeglio, dedicating an exhibition to Allen Jones titled "Forever Icon," running until April 26th. Jones, an artist in his nineties, returns to Italy for the first time since the major retrospective held at the Royal Academy in London in 2014. He is a pioneer of the generation of English pop artists, present since 1961 in the most important international exhibitions and an inspiration for filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick. The exhibition features a selection of paintings and sculptures created by the artist from 1966 to 2001, which aptly represent his entire visual universe: from mannequins to sculptures, from flat-color paintings of the 1960s to the more lyrical developments of his later period. Also on display is the iconic photograph immortalizing Kate Moss transformed into a sculpture by an armor, symbolizing and embodying an entire era.
